Citing a large increase in the number of clients from the Sahuarita area, the Green Valley Community Food Bank has officially changed its name to the Green Valley-Sahuarita Community Food Bank.
“The Green Valley Community Food Bank was originally established to provide food assistance to the low income senior citizens living on Social Security,” said Mary Jane Goodrick, Executive Director.
“However, the demographics in the community at large have changed. Currently, only 17% are over 60 and 35% are under 17 years of age. 63% of our clients are from Sahuarita.”
“After careful consideration, the Advisory Board decided that a name change to the Green Valley-Sahuarita Community Food Bank would better define our service area and enhance our resources from both communities that we serve,” added Ms. Goodrick.
The Green Valley-Sahuarita Community Food Bank is located at 250 E. Continental, Green Valley, Arizona 85650.
